Amber Deere, PMHNP-BC
I started working as a registered nurse at PCMH in 2011 after obtaining my Associate's RN from Northwest technical college in Bemidji MN. I continued on to get my Bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota in 2012. I really enjoyed the work and the community as a whole. I enjoyed being in the ER the most but also worked on the medical floor, and in the surgery/infusion department as well. In 2016 I started my master's program at the University of North Dakota, following the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner track. After graduating in May of 2018, I worked for Alluma (formerly Northwestern Mental Health Center) in Crookston MN. During Covid my practice was 100% virtual and I knew I needed a change. I wanted to see clients face to face again. I started at Kittson Healthcare in Hallock MN in February 2021. Shortly after starting the facility contracted me to LifeCare in Roseau MN two days per week. I learned a lot going from a community mental health center to rural health clinics. My career came full circle when I came back to PCMH in February 2024. It has been great to see my past co-workers and friends. I feel right at home and tell people that this has been the best professional decision of my life.
My approach to treatment is holistic, and I meet my clients where they are at in their lives. I think people are able to make positive changes when they are met with compassion and understanding. I believe in shared decision making and partnering with clients for the most optimal outcomes.
I live in rural Lancaster MN with my husband and 4 children. I love spending time with my family, watching my kids play hockey, gardening, and going on walks.
